Reclamation
Led Approach to Demolition Guide
This report sets out the justification for
reclamation, together with the specific steps to take a reclamation
led approach to demolition. The key themes are audit, allowing sufficient
time and space, clear communication and embedding these in the construction
contract, plans and management. This is supported by fourteen case
studies that set out the carbon and cost savings for taking this approach. |
| BedZED
Construction Materials Report
This report describes the choices of construction materials on the
Beddington Zero Energy Development completed in South London in
2002. It quantifies the environmental benefits of these choices
and describes how the materials were sourced, specified and used.

Case
Study on Reclaimed Doors
This study was produced for inclusion in a Building Research Establishment
document for Envirowise summarising construction waste minimisation
case studies and promoting good practice. It described a supply
chain mechanism for large numbers of reclaimed Victorian panel doors
that require stripping and repair. The study provides costs and practical
advice.

| Thames
Gateway - A feasibility study for a major reclaimed materials enterprise
This report investigates the feasibility of widespread use of reclaimed
materials in the construction and demolition (C&D) industry,
with particular reference to the Thames Gateway. It discusses the
capacity for growth in the reclaimed materials sector and the potential
for a series of large-scale reclaimed materials facilities that
may fuel it. The widespread use of reclaimed materials is considered
to be one strategy for reducing the C&D industry’s environmental
impact.
This work forms part of
a larger Thames Gateway study by BioRegional Development Group and
is funded by Shanks and DEFRA through the landfill tax credit scheme.
